Sometimes you just have to stop all of the rushing around and just be intentional about making a moment and savoring that moment. Because isn’t that really what life is – all of the moments? Life isn’t the big things but the day to day, minute by minute moments. So you can just fix your cup of tea and rush around drinking it or stop, make it special, savor it and take a moment to be thankful.
How is your time with the Lord spent? Rushing through it or stopping to savor Him and the special things he’s sharing with you?
God gives us little gifts all of the time – a special revelation of His Word, a sunset, tender moments with our husband or children. The enemy wants to steal these gifts by having us buy into the lie that “if we’re not busy, we’re not productive.” Don’t buy into the lie. Sometimes our periods of rest can be more productive than being a slave to busyness.
According to Webster’s dictionary, the definition of rest is “peace of mind or spirit.” I love this! The definition of peace is “tranquility, calm restfulness” and our spirit is defined as “the non-physical part of a person that is the seat of emotions and character; the soul.” Without rest for our souls we are vulnerable to spiritual attack just like are bodies fall ill due to lack of physical rest.
If you are the type of person that feels guilty for pausing long enough to appreciate special moments, you need to give yourself permission and recognize that we don’t get these missed moments back. Your spirit and your family need you to take these moments to refresh your soul and hear from the Lord. Allow yourself to be quiet enough to hear His still small voice above all of the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
So today ask the Lord to help you recognize the special moments – and keep your eyes open for precious gifts from our Father God.
